Why should I submit my site to web directories?
- To get your website indexed
Search engines like Google and Yahoo send out crawlers (spiders) to search the web for new sites that come up everyday. If you have a new site and you want search engines to know of its existence, then there couldn’t be an easier and better way to let a search engine know than having it find your site through links in various directories.
- One way links -> Improvement in Search Engine Rankings
Most directories provide one way links, which is beneficial from the SEO aspect of your site. Search engines give importance to the number of inbound links to your site when ranking it for a given position during search and one way links are thought to be valued more than reciprocal links (links exchanged with other sites). Thus, directory links can help give a boost to your SEO efforts.
- Targeting specific keywords / phrases
Most directories allow you to provide a link with keywords describing your site. It’s not easy getting links to your site with the keywords you want and directories serve as the easiest medium for getting such links. Getting links with targeted keywords / phrases can have search engines favouring your site over others when ranking for the given terms.
- Traffic (not such a benefit with most directories)
There aren’t many directories that could boast of providing your site with traffic that would number in the hundreds per day but there are a few directories that are known to give some traffic (albeit very little) to sites in certain categories.
- Most directories are free to submit to
Given the benefits and most directories being free to submit to, it makes business sense to having your site listed in as many SEO friendly directories as possible. After all, you don’t lose anything for doing so.
Submitting to directories can be a time-consuming process though and finding the right directories to submit can take quite a bit of effort. To save yourself the trouble, you may use directory submission services like ours to get your site submitted to all the top quality SEO friendly directories out there. We have a sizeable team of directory submitters who are well-trained in submitting to web directories.
How will I know whether my sites have actually been submitted?
Most directories send an email acknowledging that your site has been submitted to their directory and since we enter your email address during the submission process, you would be receiving all these emails. Do note that not all directories send emails but quite a few do and some directories even send emails to inform you whether your link has been approved or rejected.
If I submit to 500 directories, does that mean I'll get 500 links?
We only ensure that your site details are submitted correctly and successfully. Whether your link is put up on every directory we submit to is dependent on the directory owner. Every directory owner has their own criteria for approving sites and your link may or may not be put up.
Are all the directories in your list SEO Friendly?
Yes, all the directories on our list are SEO Friendly. Our list of directories is constantly verified and any directories not meeting the criteria are removed.
Will my links ever expire or are they permanent?
If your links are approved and put up, they should be on the directory for as long as the directory exists [which, in most cases, will be a long time].
Do you submit all types of sites?
We submit most types of sites. The type of sites we do NOT submit are those that belong to any of the following categories: Gambling, Pharmacy, illegal sites or sites promoting hatred and non-English sites.
How long will the submissions take?
Submissions typically take 4-6 working days from the date of payment. The process begins 2-3 days after payment and typically takes 2 to 3 days to complete.
How long before the links are up on the directories?
That depends. Some directories may approve your link in a few days while some may take a couple of months. We have no control over when your link will be put up.
How do you ensure that my site is accepted in the directory?
We follow the rules of each directory carefully. For instance, if a particular directory requires for you to submit only an 'Official Title', we use only your official title (that's why we ask you to enter the 'company name' when adding a site in our system). We also ensure your site is submitted to the right category .
How do directory links help in improving my search engine ranking?
‘Links’ play a major role in determining your ranking position on the various search engines. Obtaining inbound links or back links in quantity and quality can influence your search engine rank immensely. Search engines base a certain factor on directories in judging a website’s popularity and relevance. Depending on the quality of the directory and the number of back links your website has, search engines will be able to determine your relevance and qualify your website accordingly.
